Who is Chip Kidd?

Chip Kidd, a graphic designer and author, received a 2007 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for one of his innovative book cover. He depends on the writers to not write stale books. He gets a sense from reading the manuscript that the writer is doing a really good job, so that kind of cheers him on to do the same visually. what is important about a book cover according to Kidd is if a book cover is done right it is going to just suggest a sensibility, it's going to be a lot more coy and a lot more discrete than an album or magazine cover. At 39, Kidd has designed more than 1,500 covers for authors from Michael Crichton to John Updike. But he says that judging a book by what's on its jacket is "irredeemably shallow." Chip Kidd is an inspiration to many and he keeps inspiring all with his well designed book covers.
